Home learning
Each week home learning is set in class and written by the children in their school planner. In year 3 we alternate between Maths and English skills books each week.
Reading
For children to make good progress in reading, it is important that they read at home regularly. We recommend children to read 5 times per week.
Spelling
Spellings are sent home every Monday. These need to be practised regularly at home in preparation for the spelling test the following Monday.
Times tables
For children to make good progress in their mathematics, we would like to encourage all children to be using Times Tables Rock Stars for an average of 10 minutes per day.
For today, we have set you work on Ed Shed and on Doodle Learning. Please log into your accounts and complete these tasks. If you complete these, then please keep on working your way through your own individual tasks!
Reading - please continue to read lots, the children should all have a coloured book band book to practise at home.
Times Tables Rockstars - Keep on rocking with this fabulous website, all the children have their own login that tracks their own progress.

Spellings
New spelling words are taught explicitly on a Monday and the children have lots of opportunities to practise them throughout the week.
The spelling words always follow a spelling rule. We focus on understanding what the words mean, counting the syllables and segmenting the words using our phonics.
Children will be tested on their spellings on the following Monday.
Handwriting
Handwriting is practised throughout the week. The children are shown how to form their letters correctly and when ready, will begin to join some letters together.
Reading
In Year 3, most children follow the Little Wandle Fluency programme once they are able to read 60 words per minute. The children read at least 3 times a week with an adult and have opportunities to read independently too.
